Weekend Trip: Red Rock Hike

Sunday, uncle Duck drove us up to Red Rock Canyon. I've been here years ago, but at that time it was too hot to do any hiking, let alone exit our air conditioned truck. This time, we were going to take advantage of the ideal temperatures and hike one of the many trails in this State Park. There were a lot of people out and about this weekend. I guess I've been spoiled over the years with hiking in a National Park with no crowds. I was reminded of that again as we shared the trail with people who failed to practice "leave no trace." I'm also not used to people blasting their "boom boxes" from their backpacks as we stand on a mountain top.
Different.
lol

We really liked these Red Bud trees in the washes......

Isaac swooped down repeatedly to play in the sand...... Haha

Isaac did really good hiking, he only needed to be carried on the really steep sections of the trail.

Ava is our little pro hiker, full of energy........

We picked out a hike where we would have a chance to see some water. Lucky for us, the water was still there!

Of course, herpetologist husband finds a critter here. Look how tiny this frog is!

We made it to the top, where you could see a view of the natural landscape.
Of course, you could clearly see Las Vegas too......

What a refreshing hike!
We made our way back down and spent the rest of the day at the Visitor Center. Daryl mentioned that last time he was here, they had almost almost a dozen tortoises! We were really interested in seeing them :)
