Crystal Peak Hike

Continuing Thanksgiving break, we organized a hike to Crystal Peak. Again, it was over 70 degrees! It felt like Spring break! The drive was beautiful. We were all eager to play. The kids in the picture below show you the scale of the mountain.

We climbed pretty far up. Then the terrain became too slippery. Literally like marbles under our feet. The rocks were so unpredictable and loose they broke off when we grabbed them and watched some of them tumble below. That wasn't good when someone was below. We didn't want to be another desert tragedy statistic so we didn't go much higher. There is a better way up (I've done it before) to get to the summit. Today wouldn't be the day to do it with 10 kids haha.

Mom and grand kids minus one :)

What a great day. Seriously amazing weather. This winter has been too warm and dry. Looking at the white mountain made me think that maybe our white Christmas was coming (?)   ;)

Muddy Puddle (Pruess)

Thanksgiving Break arrived! The weekend forecast was going to continue to be crazy warm. Gretchen and I talked about doing a walk at Pruess Lake, which is really low this time of year. The Osburn girls were here so they were able to join in on the fun. John brought Aidan and Charlie. We had quite the crowd on this adventure. And, what an adventure it would be! The walk near the lake turned into a walk around the lake ~ then through the lake!

I still couldn't believe how warm it was end of November. I peered over at the dry peaks in the distance....

The walk through the lake begin. In the beginning it was a sandy, warm shallow tread. Then, the mud was thick and more challenging to pull our feet from. Sloshing and gurgling as we put one foot in front of the other.........

Sydnie sank pretty deep! Haha

It wasn't long before the kids really went crazy in the mud........ who can blame them? I was more cautious with my camera but I was thinking how grand it would have been if we'd brought swimsuits!

Willow takes notes from Peppa Pig ~ she really loves muddy puddles! lol

Oh my......

What season is it anyway?!

Turkey Shoot 2017

It was time for the volunteer fire department to have their annual fundraiser. A lot of individuals look forward to this every November. Including Isaac who ruminated on it for a month haha. He was pleased when the day finally arrived. The sun was shining and the wind wasn't blowing; thank goodness!

November skies are killing it with these sunsets. It rained and snowed on the mountain a little bit one day last week. But, it's going to be 70 degrees on Thanksgiving! What season are we in anyway? I love it but it's getting a little ridiculous. Guess we better do a rain dance.
