Fly Art

We attended a "Art Fly" ranger program at the Great Basin Visitor Center. There were a number of kids eager to learn about the topic of discussion, The Fly. Other kids would occasionally tune into what ranger Bob was saying, while using the cement pads as a personal jungle gym. Uh hum, including Ava & Isaac. LOL

After the discussion on the patio, the ranger had everyone go inside the building for a hands on art project involving paper, paints, and baby flies; or maggots. Do you know where this is going?

The maggots were dipped in various colors of paint ~ and off they went across pieces of paper.
Go maggots Go!

I have to say, that is a creative piece of art! Check out these finished products:

Sociable Sunday: Part Two

When we arrived at Silver Creek, it wasn't long before Jon and Mark hooked a fish. The water level was down really low so there was more of a chance to see crayfish....... eeeewww. It was fun to watch the dogs run around and ride across the lake with the floats........

Isn't he purty?

Good times, good times  :)

Sociable Sunday: Part One

On Father's Day, we met up with friends at Pruess Lake to throw a line in the water; and in the air!  It wasn't the best day for fishing, but there was enough wind for a kite to be launched in the sky (of course). We tried our best. It was fun just to relax, stand in the water, and collect sea shells from the shore. All in great company :)

I didn't realize how tiny some of these shells were! Check this out:

After a while, we decided to relocate to Silver Creek. So we crossed the state line from Utah to Nevada!
