Mather Overlook ~ Post Storm

With the fresh snow on the mountain, my friend Donna, Willow, and myself went on a Sunday drive up the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive. The law enforcement opened the gate as we were there and, to my delight, we were then able to drive up to Mather Overlook (9,000 feet). Fresh snow covered the high desert landscape. It was melting fast as we stood there.

This is probably the longest the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive has been open at this high elevation in years. Usually after Labor Day Weekend it's closed. We got a little grace period. We enjoyed it!
