Feels like Autumn/First Taste of Winter

Every year I like to do a Fall photo shoot of my growing kids. One afternoon after school I took my terrific trio up to find a good spot. We had a frost in the Spring that must have effected the leaves this year. Many of the aspens at 10,000 ft never grew leaves back. Most of the ones that did, the leaves ended up being small.
All our favorite spots were duds this year. The aspen at 9,000 feet looked like they were weeks behind. Anyway, really strange Fall foliage this year. We ended up at Wheeler Peak Campground meadow....




We ended up driving back down to Upper Lehman Campground too....




My kids expressed how they really feel about these photo sessions..... :)



Weather-wise, this was the calm before the storm. We got rain in the valley and our first taste of winter in the mountains. My drive to Ely the following day was grey, but pretty.....








The temperatures climbed quickly after that storm and much of the snow melted, except at high elevations. What a pretty palate that makes:
