Lakes Loop Hike

I was fortunate to have my childhood friend, Erin, and her family come for a visit. Her and I only get to see each other once a year. When we get together we just pick up where we left off haha.
Her nephew and nieces join us on a hike. We knew the trail would be difficult with the snow, but we decided to try the Lakes Loop.

Brecken and Willow formed an instant support system.....

Rin and Jin together again! ;) 

The trail was difficult to follow for sure with all the snow. Not very many people made tracks in fear of getting lost. We managed to weave on and off the trail through the shaded forest.....

Deep snow banks peeked over the raging water. Every step was soggy....

After emerging through the trees the trail appeared again. So did the sun....

Stella Lake:

We tried to follow the trail from Stella Lake to Teresa Lake. There was a large tree across it and then it become lost in the deep snow. We continued to walk through the forest in a winter wonderland in the direction of the lake, off trail. There were lots of snow banks to slide down on. It was so much fun. We took our time, enjoying the snow but being cautious....

Just before getting to Teresa Lake, Ava found a piece of wood that resembled a sled! Haha!
She put it to use. It was easier getting a little push from Drew....

Teresa Lake: 

This is the deepest I've seen Teresa Lake in a long time. Simply beautiful. No flowers yet. There was still a foot of snow in places!

The trail was still difficult to follow from the lake to the parking lot. We managed though. Isaac felt empowered wearing his Jr. Ranger vest :)

The kids took the opportunity to slide down long slopes. The adventure was nearing the end....

Willow decided her hike would end sooner than the other kids ;)

There was water running everywhere. Wow!

That 3 mile trail took more time that day than it usual would on a typical summer day. Summer season would arrive on the mountain soon enough. That was an exciting and refreshing hike!
