First Summer Hike: Stella Lake

The summer has been moving along too fast. I can't even keep on time with my blog. So, back in early June our friends invited us to hike to Stella Lake. There was too much snow on the Lakes Loop Trail so we hiked to and from the summit trail head. It was summer on the valley floor, but up at 10,000 ft the aspen leaves were still unfolding on the branches. They were still just waking up for the season.
We expected the temperatures to be much more chilly, but it ended up being a fantastic warm day!

Isaac and Emma were documenting the adventure along the way :)

Ahhhh, the meadow before the lake showed some life with beautiful bouquets of yellow....

We warned the kids about getting too wet. They didn't really care haha.....

Matthew proved to be the most adventurous by Polar Bear swimming........ brrrrrr!

Look at all that June snow! With climbing temperatures it would surely melt fast.

Nature is the best medicine. It's nice to get out and forget all the stuff that needs to be done at home.

This view is just what I needed. A positive distraction.
