First Day of 2nd Grade

My girl is in second grade! I can't believe it! Ava had a difficult time getting up in the morning. It's going to be an adjustment from our lazy summer mornings. Once she had breakfast, she was more eager to dress herself and throw on a smile for some pictures at 7:00 in the morning :)

I can't get over how big she is!

We had a small back-to-school greeting committee. Isaac couldn't roll out of bed that morning which was a huge surprise. However, Willow was bright and bushy-tailed!

This year there are six second graders and four Kindergarteners. There is no one in first grade this year. Ava has two other girls in the classroom, which is nice ;)
So there are ten kids at the Garrison school this year.
These second graders share the same bus stop: Ernesto, Ava, and Matthew

We waited for the bus to arrive.......

Willow hasn't worn anything on her feet all summer, so she was curious about those clothes covering her toes! Ha!  The mornings have felt a little more cool, but then it launches back into the 90's during the day.

Then the bus pulls up and the excitement for a new year builds......

Gretchen and I were ready to document again.......

That same day (in the afternoon), we had the largest rain system I've ever seen living in Baker. It was a 10-15 minute lightning and thunder-filled storm that accumulated an inch of water. Isaac and I stood there and watched it. It was amazing!
Pictures don't do it justice, but you can see the water pouring out of the gutter; even bending it because there was so much. The thunder was so loud it was startling......

Then the wind and rain blew the trees sideways.......

You wouldn't believe by the looks of this that it had rained and soaked the ground the day before. This was a double dose. After what seemed like the longest dry spell we got some relief ~ all in a couple of days!
Sometimes when it rains, it pours ;) 
Meanwhile, in Snake Valley, the school kids stayed dry :)
