Wrapping Up Our Trip (and Bryan's Leg)

New Years Eve came fast! We hadn't planned to be in New Mexico for it but it was fun to start the new year with Sarah, Violet, and Waseem! After the kids went to bed, the adults played :)
lol we didn't make it to midnight, but we tried. Haha

We stayed in Albuquerque a week longer so Bryan could have his surgery. We woke up Thursday morning at 5:30 am and drove to the hospital. The surgery wasn't actually performed until around 8:00. I got to see Bryan briefly before they wheeled him away. He was in good spirits. I may have been more nervous than him..... Ha

The waiting room was a l.o.n.g wait! Crowded with people.
In addition, my husband was a case number  *sigh* ......................

Bryan broke the fibula bone about 4-5 inches under his knee. However his ankle rolled bad enough that the space increased too much in between the tibia and fibula bone and tore his ligaments. Here is a before pic of the ankle area:

(I tried to put these pics side by side but it didn't work.)
Anyway, here is the after picture with the screws and plate:

He has a temporary cast, his leg is wrapped up like a large burrito.......

Now we are ready to finally get home. Wow. It's been a rememberable holiday vacation.
700 + miles of road, here we come.......

Special thanks to Sarah, Waseem, and Violet for their wonderful hospitality, patience, babysitting, and for going above and beyond for us during our extended stay. We love you!
Thank you friends and family for your love, support and encouragement during the bumps in the road ;)
