Plante Place: Part One

Last weekend we drove to my aunt & uncle's, Tammy & Jon Plante, house in Nephi, Utah. Visiting them has been on my mind the last year. It was nice to reunite for a great time. I've always loved their property. It's full of fun antiques. I couldn't help but take some photos. Much of the metalwork creations were welded & made by Jon.

Tammy has rescued many animals the last few years. Many she's sold or gave away to nice families. Some, she's kept.  Here is the "Plante Pack!"
There's Oz, Sport, Jazzy, and Zeek (who we were taking home).

"Ghost Riders"
These are the Harley's that Jon built....... cool, huh?

Tammy kindly took us horseback riding, which we spent the rest of the day doing. I'll post my favorite photos later. Most of them I posted on facebook.

Thanks Jon & Tammy for the hospitality; we always enjoy your great company! We won't wait too long next time to visit ;)

Meet Zeek!

This sharp-teethed anklebiter is the newest member of the Hami Fami! My uncle and aunt, Jon & Tammy Plante, rescued this pup from his abusive owner. Tammy has taken in and rescued many animals (not just dogs) over the years. When she posted a photo of Zeek on facebook and we found out what breed (mut mix) he was ~ we told her we were interested and that we would drive 2.5 hours to pick him up. A lot of other people shared our interest. Thankfully, we got him! It was great to visit Tammy & Jon. I'll post more photos of our trip to Nephi, UT another time..........

Zeek is roughly 8 weeks old and is an Australian Shepherd, Heeler & ? (something else) mix..... lol
He's been introduced to Alaska & Diego. It wasn't a fond meeting - but they'll adjust.....Haha. Hopefully they'll realize he's not out to eat them.

Another little sidekick to share our adventures with! This is going to be an interesting, fun ride!

More from Preschool

This week I was able to capture more munchkins on camera. There were eight of them on Friday :)
After individual activity time, the kids sat in their designated spots and ran through the ABC's  & colors with teacher Gwendy.

Next, it was time to sing a few songs with their actions...................

Then I hurried and snapped a group photo before they all took off to consume their snacks!

What a great looking bunch!

Making the Cut

Well, technically Ava made the first cut; on her hair anyway. A couple of months ago Ava decided to find my scissors and cut off 4 + inches of her hair on the left side. A week later while the kids were over at my mom's house, Audrey cut the right side to try and match it. I wasn't ready to cut most of her hair off (neither was Ava), so her hair style looked a little interesting for a couple of months. When she wore it up, it wasn't noticeable at all. But, when it was wet and down it resembled Billy Ray Cyrus. Haha :D
So, last night while combing out her hair and noticing how bad it was - I asked Ava "Are you ready to cut your hair short so it all matches?" To my surprise, she nodded. We headed to the bathroom to get 'er done ;)

Looking at these photos makes me embarrassed about cleaningness of my bathroom. The mirror looks aweful. But, what do you expect when to kids climb and walk up the counters and fingerpaint  on it. Still, I'm now inspired to go clean my bathroom (or at least address the mirror)....... lol

Bryan took most of these photos.........

From the expression of her face, I think she may have changed her mind about the cut;
But then I decided she was just making faces at herself in the mirror

There it goes! Ava's first (real) haircut. Kinda sad in a way. But it's going to be so much easier to maintain! Horray for that!

We walked through the door of preschool this morning and Ava's friend Charlie exclaimed "Ava! You're beautiful!!" ........ we all had a good laugh.

I think Ava is happy about her hair now ;)

New short style ~ just in time for warming weather!

Crazy Cat

Our crazy cat Alaska is a cat of No Fear. This is not good. He lays on the road like he owns it. Watches traffic move around him - not kidding. I've seen it at times. This cat is going to need his 9 lives. Even though him & Diego spend some time inside the house - I prefer them to be outside; especially as the weather warms. Diego is a really great "house cat" and I trust him not to get into trouble. Plus, he's old and just wants to be lazy and of course, eat. When Alaska is in the house - he's sneaky and jumps on the kitchen tables and counters. He gets into things that he knows he's not supposed to get into. I've tried spraying him in the face with a squirt water bottle loads of times. It doesn't work on him like it did our previous cats.

He's such a hoot outside though. I'll walk around the yard and see him "spread eagle" out of a nearby bush (jumping up high in the air) in front of me and then grab my boot. He reminds me of a mountain lion with his energy, stealth, and speed. One time he surprised me by suddenly jumping up on my shoulder while I was standing, talking to someone. You already know he follows us around like a dog. Maybe that's what we need ~ a leash.

Alaska used to stand up to dogs until one got a hold of his tail and bit him. Now, that's the only thing that I know of that scares him.........

So, this is him after being chased up the telephone pole by our neighbors dog........ lol

I think he may have enjoyed the view from the top even if a dog encouraged him to climb that high.....
Obviously, he has no fear of heights either ;)
Silly feline!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!!!!

It's hard to believe that last year, on this particular occasion, we were enjoying a festive parade in streets of New Orleans.  I remember well how much attention Isaac got.  People were complimenting him about his red hair and putting beads around his neck. lol

His color hasn't changed much in a year. I hope it doesn't.

And may trouble avoid you

Night Sky

One evening when I returned home from working in Ely after dark, I couldn't help but notice Venus & Jupiter competing to outshine the moon. So, I ran inside to grab my camera. Not the best photos, obviously, but you can pick out the two planets on the right side of Wheeler Peak.

It's really cool to live under one of the darkest night skies in the country! Ava has the best view from any room in our house. This is what she can literally look at while she lays in her bunk bed at night :)

Here's the view from her window:

How cool is that?

This makes me even more anxious for summer - I'm anticipating camping already!
