Autumn Greeting

Burrrrrrr - baby it's cold outside!
I wanted to post these photos from our drive the day before yesterday. Like I mentioned before, we timed it just before the road was closed in preparation of the winter storm. Some of the Quaking Aspen were just barely in transition. Last year , I thought, was a terrific year for fall foliage. I think there were even more colors this year - but who knows, I wasn't disappointed with last year or this year's trip ;)

Of course, we stopped at Mather Overlook first .......................

After that quick stop we made our way up to the Summit Trailhead............

The low hanging clouds looked pretty cool lingering amongst the quakies & conifers..............

Fresh powder on Wheeler. The peak was socked in with threatening clouds...............

AUTUMN LEAVES

Italic

Leaves in the Autumn came tumbling down,
Scarlet, and yellow, russet and brown,
Leaves in the garden were swept in a heap,
Trees were undressing, ready for sleep.

Last BBQ of the Season

A group of us got together for one last BBQ at Snake Creek. Our good friend, Lindsay, was leaving Baker to go back to work in Antarctica and travel afterward. We will miss you Z!!!!!!
The fall colors were starting to show on the trees at this time. We chatted around the fire while the guys passed a ball....................................

Ava & Isaac love their Lindsay!

Ava and Isaac sported their new animal hats :)
We'll have to do a fashion show sometime ;)

He says "Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr"
LOL

Let the good times roll..............................
It snowed in the mountains and in Ely last night. It didn't quite freeze last night - although I was prepared (picked most everything in the garden). Tonight and Friday night are going to be the coldest nights. Then, it's getting back up to 70 by Tuesday. At least that's what the forecast says. I certainly would be satisfied with 60-70 degree temps!

The kids and I drove up the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive JUST before they closed it in preparation for the weather. I'll have to post some photos tonight maybe....................

Bryan in giving a talk in Las Vegas tomorrow. We are going to pack up and head south in the morning!

"T" is for Toothbrush

It's the first day of October!
C.R.A.Z.Y.

A while back I got the kids a spin-brush toothbrush. They both really liked it. Isaac especially loves it because I think it feels good on his gums (especially when he's teething). Plus, he enjoys the buzzing sound it makes. After I put pajamas on him he's always eager to run into the bathroom, climb up the bathtub, and spend an adequate amount of time brushing his teeth. lol. If you ever want your kid to take interest in brushing their teeth ~ get him/her a spin brush. It works magic :)

He's pretty proud of him accomplishment!

Since the weather has cooled down at night - I got Isaac some new PJ's. They have the cutest clothes for kids. Sometimes I wish they made them in my size ;)
He definately noticed they were new because he kept petting his shirt & pants and saying "this!"
lol

The weather has been so warm for September. I know it's going to cool down soon - but I'm enjoying the 70-80 degree temps. Mostly I'm enjoying the fact that I STILL have a garden! This is the latest in the year I've ever had a garden. I've been shredding and freezing zuchini. I've also been using my peppers, tomatoes, and squash to make spaghetti sauce (freezing that too).
I'm happy we are still enjoying fresh veggies since we were robbed of a Spring and got such a late start for planting..........
I'm looking forward to taking a drive to see the aspens changing. It should be a good year, as it seems they have a gradual change this year. No signs in the forecast for a freeze yet :)
Last year was spectacular.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
