Today it snowed in the mountains and provided Baker with some measurable rain. It made for some beautiful scenery. At the end of the day before the sun set there was a huge gorgeous rainbow. I tried to get some good shots.

Today was a productive day. While Ava was in preschool Mom and I went on a walk (before the rain clouds rolled in) and I planted lettuce, cabbage, and spinach (thank you Grandpa Hanks!).
I tried to do some weeding - but I got frustrated with it because there are too many. Tomorrow Ava and I are going to plant corn. Maybe she'll want to pull weeds? lol

Oh, so much to do in the yard....................

Chest of Drawers

I meant to post this a while ago. Audrey went to the Thrift Store and bought a chest of drawers to fix up for Ava. She gave it fresh coats of paint and decorated it with these adorable wooden animal decals.

She also painted and fixed up a toy shelf that fits in her closet. It matches the chest of drawers. These were late birthday presents.

Isaac loves to lay in her room and look at everything..........

Anyway, thanks again Audrey! You are so creative and thoughtful.

Visit 3

I realized I still had a few photos to post of the family when they were visiting.
Babies are a lot more photogenic than 2 yr olds - that's for sure..........

Today is windy again. It's supposed to snow up in the mountains and rain in the valley. THAT I can tolerate - it's the wind that really chaps my @#$.

lol

The weeds are going to be out of control this year. My yard is full and surrounded by them. Weed pulling will be a full time job in of itself.

On a positive note - my veggies survived the last snow and are looking great. I'll have to post some pictures soon :)

I plan on getting my other fruits and veggies (like tomatoes & peppers) started in the house today or tomorrow........

I also created a new cactus garden. The cacti are from New Mexico that some friends gave us (thank you Nomi and John). So far it's a rough transplant but I have hope they will revive and prosper! I'll have to post pics of that too. You should see how great our Cholla cactus is doing!

Well, so far the activities of this windy day included laundry, bill pay, vacuum repair (not successful), and carpet cleaning. Hopefully Ava won't be spilling any coffee on our carpet soon. I suppose it's Bryan and myself's fault for leaving in on the floor for her to kick over. lol

You can't blame everything on a two yr old.

Bryan took Ava out to the snake dens today to release a few rattlers that he processed. He hauls her around in our Ergo pack. I think she likes these adventures. Bryan sure gets a workout. He is in such GREAT shape! I can't wait until the day I can be whipped into shape and fit into my jeans again! I need a personal trainer and a babysitter. Any takers? Adam? Mom? LOL

This is the time of year that Bryan visits the snake dens virtually every day because they are dispersing to feed. He's been busy with that the last couple of weeks. He's captured almost 70 rattlesnakes just this year! Each one of those snakes takes 10-15 minutes to process (weigh, measure; etc). Just add up that time........ it's amazing. This data will be included in (almost) a ten year study with the rattlesnakes! Really cool :)

I wish I could help him out...... hopefully next year :)

Well, that's the my blog for now.......... I better go fold the laundry.

5 Months

Isaac hit 5 months old on Cinco de mayo. He's grabs everything around him (like the food on my plate, or the plate itself). I think I'm going to start making baby food in the six month. I think he's still working on his first tooth because he's cranky at times, drools, and chews things aggressively.



He likes to sit in the bumbo chair (thanks Annette!) to see what's going on around the room.......

He also likes to sit and stand in the "walker" (which is great when I need to cook in the kitchen).

Photo Shoot

I find the series of photographs below pretty amusing because this shows you how hard it is to get kids to pose for pictures:


Next - we tried to get Mom with all the grandkids......... It seems you have to get twenty pictures to get one good one.........
Don't worry - I'm not going to show you twenty. Six is quite enough to prove the point......
and that is only from MY camera. I'm counting on Sarah and Rachel getting some good ones.

Kit Fox Family

The day that we woke up to all that snow - there was one pleasant surprise. I discovered an adorable family of Kit Fox out and about their den. The female and male were both keeping careful watch of their 4 pups.

I was delighted that they let me observe them for a little bit............... and capture them on my camera.

I wonder what they thought of the Spring snow? I guess they didn't mind with a home like that....

One of the little pups was a little more brave and continued playing while the other three went into hiding...............

There was ALWAYS one parent keeping watch.........
Both entrances were being guarded by both the male and female. Can you see them both in the photo below?


The pups kept poking their cute little heads in and out............. until one of the parents barked. Then I didn't see them again.

I told Ava it was "Swiper the Fox"

Later on that day (all the snow had melted) I stopped by the den again and they were all out running around in the brush, rolling around and chasing each other. What a sight that was - and so cute! Reminded me of a litter of hyper kittens.
