May Daze

Still living life in a Twilight Zone. The Loneliest Road became even more lonely. Weird not being busy when normally Great Basin National Park is hustling and bustling with tourists. The skies have been crystal clear without the traffic in the sky too. It's peaceful and quiet.

Spring keeps moving along bringing us more colors into the month of May. I've been taking quite a few pictures of flowers and birds at our house. Playing attention to the details. Those simple, beautiful joys in life.

Where we live, it's easy to practice social distancing. I'm grateful we can get out in the great outdoors. We went camping at one of our favorite spots in the desert. We ran across the sand dune with naked feet. The medicine we needed after staring at screens and into cyberspace for weeks.....

We get to escape to one of the local watering holes. We've had a few 85 degree days. I welcome paddle-boarding season! These are things we can do while being safe and not feeling like we are under house arrest. We managed to get our first sunburns (even though we all wore sunscreen). Now that we got that out of the way, we can just tan  :)

Willow and Isaac completed their books for the Young Author Fair:

Kids are doing good at homeschooling. We have a groove, even though Monday through Friday feels like the movie Ground Hog Day. School just isn't the same. The kids miss their teachers, activities, contact with their cohorts, and the feeling of working as a team. But, one day this will be a memory. An experience that will be sutured in our heads.

The days go by so fast, especially in nice weather. The garden is high maintenance in May. We've done lots of yard work at home and at the new office space. At the end of the day, Bryan can make a refreshing cocktail using our fresh herbs. That makes me forget about my painful muscles for a little while ;)

The states are partially re-opening businesses. We will see how this experiment goes through these different phases. I haven't gotten the green light to start work yet. Sometime in June is the plan. I miss my clients and my work. For now, I'm busy tending on the kids and the garden. Will re-opening things cause hot spots or flare-ups in Corvid-cases? It depends on if people are mindful or if they forget about social distancing. Interesting times continue. Summer events involving "crowding" are cancelled. This includes the Snake Valley Festival, Art Camp, and Summer School.
Gas prices in certain parts of the country fell to 1 $ a gallon.Yeah, you read that correctly. Yikes. Never thought I'd see that. Wearing masks is going to continue to be in our lifestyle for a long while.
Still strong feelings of uncertainty....

 Often times my head is in a May daze. Bewildered.
Even beautiful sunsets need cloudy skies.
