The kids and I decided to go to Moab, Utah and visit my sister Audrey. We try to take advantage of the days off from school. Audrey wasn't home the first day of our visit. We went and did our own thing that day. We went and played on a fun, steep sand hill. The warm sun on our skin and sand sifting between our toes was just what we needed! We got our exercise climbing up and running down and jumping around. I love taking pictures of my kids while they are in motion....
"Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down"......
We discovered a train track when we climbed all the way up to the top. Cool photo op!
The other half of the day was spent at the Aquatic Center where we almost had the whole place to ourselves! They had an obstacle course set up on the water. The whole day was so fun and exhausting that Willow was asleep really early that night! Then, she was ready to get up in the morning and do it all over again :)
Audrey got home that evening. Yeah! We made plans for a couple of hikes. We didn't waste any time. I love seeing new things in the Moab area every time we come. The first hike we wanted to do was in Arches National Park. We paused at the visitor center to look around first.....
This wild creature blends in with his natural surroundings as to not draw attention..... haha

The second hike we did was just outside the town of Moab. There were lots more rocks to climb. Nature's obstacle course. The Colorado Plateau is full of those....
We were surprised to find puddles. Where is water, there is life. Ava goes looking for some creatures and finds some....
So happy to be out and about with my sister :)

There were no other hikers on this trail with us. A landscape to ourselves!
We took our time hiking back with the last hour of the sun to our faces. Enjoying the red rocks standing out in front of the La Sal snow-capped peaks....
The sun was setting on the Colorado River. We passed by petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks that overlooked the water as we made our final descent.....
The kids and I tried to stretch our legs when we could on the drive back. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at a beautiful rest stop. Later we stopped at the Sevier Dry Lake bed to feel our feet crunch across the potassium sulfate...
Seeing the arches made an impression on Willow. They started showing up in her drawings all week long. Love it!
One of my favorite joys in life is making memories; and documenting them :)
