Snake Valley Festival 2012

We just finished up the Snake Valley Festival. The whole weekend was filled with the hustle & bustle of activity. One of the new (last minute) additions was a traveling carnival. Most of the town enjoyed the ride! The hours went by so fast and sounds resonated the street: pitter patter of busy feet, marvelous parade marching, music, talking & laughter, the panting of hard working lungs of people finishing the Snake Valley Slither, and occasional screams of delight from The Scrambler  :)
Yeah, the tiny town of Baker was the happening place to be on this third week of June. Here are some of the photos I took over this memorable weekend:

This will probably be the only time we'll ever see King Kong or T-Rex in view with Mt. Wheeler........

There were games and art projects for the kids under inviting shade trees.............

Bryan only enjoyed The Scrambler once because he enjoyed his lunch twice!
LOL :D

It was a great weekend for a great cause!

Been Through the Desert On a Horse With No Mane

Wish I could tell you that we were trying to get out of the rain. But, it's been bone dry the last few months..........

"Horse With No Mane"

With this extreme dry weather, there's even more skeletons hanging around the desert........   ;)

The weather is almost driving people into heat stroke. People have even claimed to have seen aliens trying to seek shade............

R.I.P  Too Tall Tony ~ at least he's found some cool earth to rest in; mostly. Maybe his legs will get the tan he's always wanted.......

Did I mention the d&%#, irritating, exhausting, never-ending wind this Spring? It's going to continue to blow the next few days......   *Sigh*

Grandpa & Grandma Hamilton

Here is a great group photo of Ben, Deb, Bryan, and Ava when they were in Ohio in early June. I really love how it turned out! The color really pops out when you live somewhere green!
lol
What a warm and inviting picture :)

We miss you Grandma & Grandpa!!!

A Child's Rainbow Globe

Oh, the simple pleasures................

Self Portrait

The Sun Dances Beside Her.........    :)

Blowing Bubbles

Carried on a soft whisper
Of a breeze
Little bubbles float aloft,
Delighting little children
With such simple pleasures;
A kaleidoscope of colours
Swirl around in circles
In rich fluidity
Of amethyst
And jade,
Sapphire
And gold;
Sadly, soon
Obliterated,
Erased out of existence.

Lips tremble,
But smiles
Return again
As soon as
Lips are pursed,
A gentle breath
Gives birth
To another
Gem of wonder -

A Bubble,
A Child’s rainbow globe;
Tenuous, momentary,
But a dream
Of beautiful fragility
That captivates
A sense of wonder.

Generations come and go
But this thrill will never die.

1 Fish, 2 Fish, Brown Fish, Pruess Fish

Because the wind caused us to abandon our plans to fish on Free Fishing Day in Nevada, we decided to go ahead with our plans and throw a line in on Sunday. Honestly, I didn't think we'd have much success. I've never seen anyone catch a fish in Pruess Lake as long as I've lived here. But again, I thought there were primarily bottom-feeders here, AKA Catfish. Bryan proved me wrong. He ended up catching 1 Carp and 8 Perch! This photos may surprise you. I was amazed at the size of some of these fish! lol
I enjoy fishing (and just being an observer) because it's relaxing, but it's even more fun to catch something! Zeek didn't know what to make of these wiggly, wet critters..... Haha
The first fish Bryan caught was the Carp, then he proceeded to catch Perch one after the other........

I told Bryan to show the fish some love...... lol  OK, I said "Kiss the fish!"

CMBDI'S?

Zeek managed to find a satisfying bone along with a decaying fish to chew on which I thought was quite disgusting........... while Ava & Isaac made a splash in the shallow water.

.

I made oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies that day, so I brought some along....... yummers!

"He's a Big Fat Fish"......... as sung by Walkin' Jim Stoltz

........ minutes passed, and the Perch kept taking the bait; each time was just exciting as the time before. Especially as they seem to be bigger with every pull.........
LOL

I, by the way, am not going to claim that I captured any of these. That would be quite the fish tale. I just posed to look cool.............. lol

Here is the catch of the day with this female that Bryan said was carrying eggs........

Then came fish number 9!  Not as big, but this whole fishing trip exceeded my expectations!
Geeez ~ I'm excited to go back (and bring my swimming gear).

"Good Job Hunny B!"

I think I'm married to a reptile/fish whisperer....... Haha

This lake is calling our name, we will answer that call very soon!
