This is one of my favorite annual events. Maybe because it's a beautiful time of year with the Fall presentation, maybe it's the last chance to camp, or maybe it's hanging out and relaxing with friends and family! Either way, every September the mountain calls our name. I've always loved Mt. Moriah and every year I'm more mezmorized by its beauty, spirit, and mystery. We loved it enough to name Ava after it :)
We didn't end up leaving Baker until late afternoon, so even though we'd get there nearing dark ~ I anticipated a beautiful drive in the sunset. This is
one of many views that doesn't get old; the climb up the mountain..............
I think Zeek was thrilled about the drive too! He is still adjusting to this "camping" thing ;)
Our 4runner was so packed with food and camping gear; inside and on the roof! Ava was in good spirits, even with the splint around her arm. I think both Ava and Isaac were excited to see their friends. Plus, the opportunity to sleep in a tent again.
There was a warm greeting when we arrived; by both our friends and a grand fire ;)
Something about dancing flames, music, and good company to help you melt your worries away........
They say the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup ~ but stepping out of the tent in the yellow glow of aspens is hard to beat. The only thing that distracts you from that warm thought is the cold morning air at 9,000 + feet!
LOL
We all huddle around the fire. Thank God for morning people who get up earlier than me to
start the fire! I had a hard time getting out of my sleeping bag.....but, a parent has to help with crowd control :)
We have to keep an extra eye on these two.....
Sam and Matthew put in many hours building a fort out of large branches in the forest. Ava chipped in here and there; but I'm sure found it hard to do with one hand!
Did I mention the abundant, delicious food? This group eats like kings when we camp ;)

| Supernatural? I still don't know what that is..... |

| Our lovely campsite |
When the sun camp out, we shed our layers and basked in the glow..........
Isaac was enjoying his hot chocolate; he called it coffee :)
Emma was ready to hit the trail, in style :)
I told Ava she looked like a chameleon with her yellow raincoat amongst the piles of leaves.....
Meanwhile, Sam and Matthew were still busy with their project
When we weren't gathered by the fire, our feet were carrying us over the breathtaking landscape.
Which brings me to my next post: hiking.
