Bahia De Los Angeles: La Gringa

La Gringa is an area North of Bahia De Los Angeles approximately 8 miles; portions of it are part of the Biosphere Reserve (to protect the unique ecology of the region). We made a joke that La Gringa meant "Where the gringo's go," because once again it seemed we were the only ones there. Not that I would ever complain about that. So far this trip seemed perfect except for the fact that Bryan was having bad luck finding any snakes in Bahia. Too dry maybe?

We set up our gear, then went to explore...........

I had fun following these birds around. They weren't as flighty as the pelicans or other shore birds.....

We were eager to get into the water and do some snorkeling, until we got up to our knees and realized how cold the water was!

It took some time to inch our bodies in.......

A lot of time...........  lol

We managed to bite the bullet and get our heads wet......

I haven't developed my underwater photos yet, I'm curious to see how they turned out. We saw some incredible things there including coral, sponges, huge pink starfish, huge sand dollars, and various kinds of fish. A couple of times we were following sting rays around with the camera as they swam underneath us.
I could snorkel all day!

The water was so cold that I thought I better not get in again because it took me forever to thaw out. I didn't want to freeze my little passenger out :)
After warming up ~ Bryan, myself, and Audrey went on a hike up on the mountainsides. So glad we did as the views were fantastic!

That evening, Bryan and I went night driving in hopes of finding a rattlesnake or some other kinds of snakes native to Bahia since we would be leaving LA Bay in the morning.

It wasn't a total bust. Bryan found a Sand Snake:
After photographing it, he was released back to his desert home............

Still, we were shocked by the lack of snakes that were moving. Looks like we'll have to some back sometime in the monsoon months. It's not like Bryan didn't try hard this trip. Sometimes you have dry spells.

We had another full day of driving the next day, from the gulf side of the peninsula to the pacific side. We would soon head out of the remote areas and end up in one of the most popular cities in Mexico: Ensenada.
