MT. Moriah ~ Making Memories: Part Two

Most of our group stayed at the campsite (because they hiked the trail last year and wanted to relax this time around). This year's hikers: April, Meg, Lindsay, Ava, Brandi, Bryan, Janille, Pat, Kristy, and myself & Isaac posed at the trailhead before the 2 mile steep hike to "The Table."
The weather was still cool and mostly cloudy. We did have small periods of sun.
This first photo I copied from Janille (Thanks Janille!)
:D

Ava was able to do most of the trail on the way up and down. During the really steep sections of talus rock slopes she had to be packed by Bryan. We both got a great workout! I'm used to hiking with Isaac on my back - but this trail was particularly challenging and my calves, thighs, and butt screamed at me for the following 2 days!
lol
We were so happy when we reached the top and were able to give our back and shoulders a break from the packs...............

Here is what the MT. Moriah table looks like............... it was obvious when my eyes scanned over it for the first time. Undescribable feeling - standing there; my legs heavy like they were deeply rooted in the earth like the bristlecone pines surrounding us.

What stories would these thousand + year old trees tell? They've witnessed centuries pass like the seasons.....................

Trunks and branches sculpted by the elements ....................

It was great to share this experience with friends and our kids :)

Everyone had such a great time and this camping trip & hike was a terrific way to top off the summer season! Can't wait to return!
