Sizzling September

September - the kids have adjusted to the structured school schedule. This year is more exciting for Ava. She has new classes including music! Her choice of instrument? The Bass Violin. I told her that her uncle Adam and aunt Rachel also played it. She will do awesome on it. Can't wait to see her perform around the holidays with her cohorts...

It's been a sizzling start weather-wise in the month of September. Still in the 90's and hot.
Although, one particular day we had a crazy microburst of marble-sized hail and heavy rain for about 15 minutes. Temperature drop, and then hours later back to 90 degrees haha.
This was one of the only storms that gave us measureable moisture to make the garden really wet. Otherwise the theme has been hot and dry.....

Hot weather means extended swimming season. No complaints there by the kids ;)

Emma and Ava are quite alike in personality. They love to run around and search for critters; like crawdads :)

This three year old knows how to have fun. Mud is always fashionable.....

She cleans up well  :)

These are a few pictures taken at my mom's house. I found a snake and Willow practically ripped it from my hands to hold it. She then asked, "Can we take it home, mamma?"

A visit with Grandpa Hanks is always special....

My garden has been so so this year. Not terrible. But not great. Not enough spring rain to help jumpstart the plants. But, we enjoyed homegrown kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers.

Morning Glories up my fence in all their morning bloom glory :)

First dragonfly visitor I've seen in my yard; keeping company with the hummingbirds...

August and September are the months of the sunflowers. Yellow petals dot the desert.....

It still feels like summer with those evening BBQ's with burnt s'mores .......

Isaac kept up with the Farmer's market baking his chocolate chip cookies. He's saving his money for something special....

The kids have been drawing here and there. I try to capture it with my iPhone when I can :)
Ava Art:

She made this while I was giving a client a massage ;)
(I love it)

Isaac Art:

The landscapes have been really pretty with the additional cloud cover. This was the moon over Wheeler Peak one morning.....

"Sketch editing" for fun .....

We really do have an amazing view from our driveway :)

Anywhere in Snake Valley you get an amazing view of the sunset.....

Whew! As time swiftly ticks by, I try to take a moment for a sunset. Now that it is mid September, there may be a chill in the air on its way. I'm looking forward to those additional Fall colors :)

August 21, 2017; Total Eclipse of the Sun

August 21, 2017 - a total eclipse of the sun and Ava's official birthday.
An epic (stamp-worthy) celebration:

Willow and I walked over to Baker School to hang out with the science class......

There are many ways to view the eclipse.....

The daylight got a little dimmer and the shadows had blurry outlines. I captured crescent shaped shadows across the ground. They looked like flying bats.

My mighty 10 year old - child of the eclipse  :)

The eclipse was A - ok !

Happy Birthday Ava ~ a total eclipse of my heart     :)
