Winter Expressions

A week ago we returned to Baker Creek road to do some more sledding. This time Charlie joined in the fun. We didn't stay too long, but judging by their faces - we created a great memory...... Haha

Winter Expressions :)

We wanted to stay and play in the snow, but someone wasn't having fun and was due for a much needed nap! Isaac made sure to vocalize his opinion on the matter........

One morning, a week or more ago, fog crawled across the valley floor making for some neat winter scenes. It's always cool to see the sagebrush covered with new snow......

FOG
The fog is an illusion—
A master of disguise,
Which hides the tangible
Before our very eyes.

But when the fog has lifted
Everything’s still there,
And the tangible
Only seemed to’ve disappeared.

In the early morning
Or late at night,
The fog descends
Upon various sites.

It gives an air of mystery
That has long prevailed.
Dangerously intriguing
Is the fog’s foggy veil.

Ava's First Posted Art Gallery

One of Ava's hobbies includes drawing. Her favorite subject to draw? Horses, of course!  Although lately she's been expanding her horizon in the animal kindom. She has learned to draw various critters. She creates a picture almost every day for someone.  I know our refrigerator is decorated. We've sent a few pages in the mail to various people. I try to photograph some of the pictures before the originals disappear. Some of these drawings she did months ago. It'll be interesting to see how her style of writing & drawing transforms with her dislikes/likes in the next few months.  It'll be fun to see :)
Eventually it will be printed into a book, along with all my other posts from this year :)

So, I present Ava's first Art Gallery post:

Isaac has expanded his vocabulary. He's saying many more words than he used to. He'll often repeat what we say. He's a little sponge - constantly absorbing the world around him. Sometimes I forget that he's only 2. He's very independent and often gets mad when you try to help him do something; sometimes even putting on his shoes. I think he's eager to catch up with Ava. He LOVES books which is awesome. You can usually subside his red-headed temper by pulling a book off the shelf.  He loves to sit with us (book in hand) and play "I Spy" with objects and colors on the pages. He's so proud that he knows colors and letters. When we go on walks he'll point out the colors of various objects. Or, he'll read the letters on buildings and signs. It's pretty cool. He loves the alphabet flashcards. Today in preschool, the kids were eating snacks. Isaac chewed on his pretzel, showed it to teacher Gwendy and said, "F!"
LOL ~ it really did look like the letter F and we all chuckled.

He's a social spirit right now, making sure to greet everyone he has in his sight. I mean everyone. He makes it a point to say bye when we exit too. It's a very polite stage that I'm hoping he won't grow out of  ;) Haha

Both Ava and Isaac, thankfully, are still interested in music. They both have their own guitars. Isaac occasionally jams with his dad. He'll pick up his guitar and pluck away with a pick. He's even pretty good with the harmonica! I witness some pretty good, and at other times, pretty questionable jam sessions in the Hami house....... lol

It took so long for blogger to upload these photos; I just gave up. So, I just put them on YouTube. Just click on the links below for your entertainment:

There is a blizzard outside our window right now. Actually we can't even see outside the window due to all the snow pasted on the glass. I'm curious to see how much we'll accumulate from this system. Hopefully enough to try out our new sleds tomorrow! We'll see! We are keeping toasty by our wood stove watching the snow flakes dance outside & the flames of the fire dance inside :)
Lovely!
Here's to hot chocolate & Kahlua on nights like these :)
Cheers!

It's March!

I can't believe the madness of March has arrived! This is the time of year where whenever you turn on the TV everything is about "Spring" sales; "Spring this & Spring that" ~ trying to get us excited that winter is about to end. I'm not fooled. When you live in the Great Basin - you know that Spring won't be here until late June. Haha. Anyway, I'm just annoyed by all the reminders that Spring is around the corner ~ when Winter has just started here! lol

Only a couple more months of preschool left (I dislike thinking about it in weeks)! Yikes! Ava's preschool days are coming to a close. She's already anticipating Kindergarten next year. Well, she's mostly anticipating the commute in a school bus :)  A new exciting chapter to look forward to. Of course, Isaac is just getting started :)
I wanted to make sure to document preschool this winter season ........... before time swiftly eludes me.
Not all the preschoolers were present on this particular day when I took these photos. There are days when teacher Gwendy has close to a dozen eager, excited kids. What a patient, wonderful lady she is.

The kids choose their activity........

Blast from the Past!!!!

I looked through some older preschool photo albums and came across Sarah & Adam's (1970's) photos. I had to smile, because the toy Adam is playing with is the same toy the kids play with today :)  They both look so cute; I might add!
