Old Man Winter Comes 'a Knockin'

Here is the winter wonderland we woke up to this morning. Uhhgggggggg.
Yeah - 6 to 8 inches of snow. Gotta love Great Basin in the Spring. Old Man Winter just won't leave.........

This is the view as I drove Ava and Charlie to preschool this morning. All the poor trees in Baker were like pretzels. Last night I noticed the weight of the snow had split one of our poor young cottonwood trees right down the middle. Now I'm going to have to plant a new tree in its place. At about 9:30 last night I went around in the dark and cold to "shake" the snow off our poor little trees that were bowing down (the tops kissing the ground).

Somewhere underneathe that blanket of snow lies my sugar snap peas, radishes, beets, and carrots......
I wonder how much snow Wheeler Peak received?
All those plants and animals were in for a shock from this winter surprise..........

It's very pretty - but the timing sucks! lol

The snow even reached the valley floor............ Although when I got to Eskdale there wasn't quite the surprising accumulation. Just a fine dusting.

After spending most of the day at my mom's house - we got home and most of the snow had already melted. Ava wanted to play in (and eat) what was left........

But, look at those clouds behind Ava near Wheeler Peak.....................

Yeah, I'm looking out the window now - and it's snowing once again.
:(
Good Grief.
Hot Chocolate anyone?????

Visit

Sarah, Jamie and their adorable girls came out to visit while they are on "leave" for baby Morgan. I've been snapping photos here and there - these are just a few...............

We put the two babes together and Isaac kept grabbing Morgan's hand. It was so cute :) They just sat there and held hands for a little while.

Sarah & the girls (Jamie was absent for a job interview when these were taken)

I took the girls for a walk around the chicken coop and fields - they were very excited to see butterflies in the alfalfa. They ended up chasing them around........ lol

It's cute how babies check each other out with curiosity
The only pics of Jamie and Jim I have are of their back ends (as they are fixing the little green VW) Ha ha! I'll get more pics when they get back.

Audrey and her new pit bull "Honey"
We were joking that Isaac is going to need Adam's support with all these girls. lol. It's going to be 6 to 1.

Here's a group picture of the kids. We are going to get another one when Rachel brings Hayden!!

I'll post many more later.................................

The annoying wind is keeping us inside today....... I keep trying to cook something but Isaac wants to be held. He's had a couple of cat naps so far today (like right now) so I thought I'd hurry and post these pics. Ava is sleeping too at the moment ;)
I think I'm going to go to Mom's tonight and get on the treadmill (with Ava) Ha ha!

Here are the many moods of Isaac...........

In other news:

Bryan is coming back from Las Vegas soon (from presenting a poster) with a few other parkies.
My sugar snap peas and radishes are coming up in my garden.
I'm soooo excited that Rachel & Aaron are having a baby girl in September!
The Osburn's and the Lamb's are coming this weekend (such fun we'll have!)

Ummmm, I think that's about it........... for now ;)

Blessed

(Thank you Sharon for ALL these photos!)

In December 2007 Ava was blessed (at 4 months old)......

My Uncle John Conrad and Grandpa Heber Hanks performed the blessing :)

Isaac was blessed last Saturday at the same age (4 months).

Where did time go? It makes me appreciate the things I have and the people in my life. I really do feel blessed ;)

Heber Hanks Party

Last Tuesday there was a Heber Hanks Appreciation party in the community center in Baker. Grandpa worked many years maintaining the Baker Community Center (inside and out). He is now officially retired from that job..........
There were quite a few friends that showed up at different times.....

The kids always like the snacks (OK, I do too) lol

Grandpa pulled out the vaccuum and went to work at his own party. lol.
This is the last time he'll be doing this............
It'll be kinda sad not to see him go through Baker in his little white truck to work............but it's about time he decided to take it easy........
:)

Ribbit Ribbit

This is an older picture of Ava (I think around 3 months old) in her frog robe. I always laughed at how alert she always looked...... her eyes resemble those large amphibian eyes!

Well, the robe has been passed on to Isaac..............

I think he's got that same look :P
lol
Ava graduated long ago to a much larger frog towel that she really likes (along with a duck one).

Ribbit............Ribbit............... I realized we have a lot of frog stuff in this house

They were happy to pose and I just thought it was cute that they both matched :)

They say "Welcome to my pad!" ................ ok that was cheezy but I couldn't help myself :)
Ha ha
